Brazil's supplemental health sector, which generated R$101 billion in revenue in the first quarter of 2026, is increasingly adopting artificial intelligence and machine‑learning tools to analyse the massive volumes of data it handles. Operators use these technologies to identify patterns, predict risk groups and support faster, evidence‑based decisions, aiming to curb the high sinistrality rate of 81%.

At the same time, hospital budgeting costs have risen about 14% over the past five years, driven by higher expenses for infrastructure, staff, equipment and medicines. Detailed data analysis is seen as essential for operators to understand cost drivers, negotiate more efficiently with providers and maintain financial sustainability.

Both trends underscore a shift toward data‑centric management in Brazil's private health‑insurance market, with agencies such as the Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar (ANS) providing the underlying statistics that fuel these initiatives.
