Brazil's Supreme Court minister Andre Mendonça to decide prison fate of ex-banker Daniel Vorcaro

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister André Mendonça is set to rule on the custodial arrangement for former banker Daniel Vorcaro, who has been detained since 4 March 2026 as part of Operation Compliance Zero, an investigation into alleged financial fraud at Banco Master.

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGR) has rejected a second plea‑bargain proposal submitted by Vorcaro’s defense, maintaining its opposition to house arrest. The Federal Police also dismissed the proposal, citing a lack of new evidence and insufficient guarantees for restitution.

Mendonça’s decision will determine whether Vorcaro remains in the special cell at the Federal Police superintendent’s office in Brasília, is transferred to the Federal Prison in Brasília, or is moved to the 19th Police Battalion (“Papudinha”) of the District Federal Military Police. The ruling will impact the administration of the PF headquarters and the ongoing probe, which includes alleged ties to senators Flávio Bolsonaro and Ciro Nogueira.
