Fábio Luís Lula da Silva (Lulinha) faces three new federal investigations
Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha and son of President Luiz Inácio Lula, has become the subject of three investigations authorized by the Supreme Court (STF) within a week. The first two were opened by Justice Minister André Mendonça in late July, probing alleged traffic of influence involving a cannabis‑medicinal company linked to lobbyist Antonio Carlos Camilo Antunes and possible irregularities at the federal IT firm Dataprev. On 4 July 2026 Justice Minister Flávio Dino authorized a third inquiry, also at the request of the Federal Police, to examine suspected illicit influence in other federal government areas. Dino simultaneously ordered a separate probe into alleged leaks of confidential information about the cases.
Lulinha’s defence has said the inquiries are politically motivated, but the family has pledged to cooperate. President Lula has publicly affirmed that the Federal Police will work independently, a stance echoed by former Finance Minister Fernando Haddad. In parallel, Justice Minister Wellington César Lima met with Justice Minister André Mendonça to ease tensions between the STF and the Federal Police over the investigations.
The Federal Police now has four parallel investigations involving Lulinha, all under judicial secrecy, as the country heads toward the presidential election.
