Brazil's Supreme Court prepares for session on Moraes and Banco Master case

The Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) is preparing for an extraordinary session on Tuesday, September 15, to discuss a Federal Police report. The report contains records of conversations between Justice Alexandre de Moraes and former banker Daniel Vorcaro, the former controller of Banco Master.

In anticipation of the session, Justice André Mendonça has lifted the secrecy on 15 legal proceedings related to the Banco Master case, following a request from Court President Edson Fachin. This move aims to increase transparency by sharing case files with other ministers, though certain information related to ongoing investigations may remain protected.

To manage the high tension and institutional crisis surrounding the case, STF ministers are discussing holding a closed session without a live broadcast. President Fachin is currently evaluating the procedural format, including voting order and speaking times, to prevent public friction during the deliberations.
