Brazil's TCU Announces Audit Competition Results and Sets Up Tax Reform Monitoring

The Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) officially homologated its audit competition, confirming 20 immediate vacancies for federal auditors and establishing a one‑year validity period for the selection. Candidates who passed the written and essay phases, as well as the mandatory formation programme, may now be called to serve with a starting salary of R$32,077.60.

In a related initiative, the TCU announced it will begin a supervisory process to track how the federal tax reform affects public‑service contracts and concessions in transport, sanitation and energy. Minister Benjamin Zymler will lead the effort, urging uniform procedures to avoid legal uncertainty. The reform, set to take effect in January 2027, will replace PIS and Cofins with the CBS and will gradually introduce the IBS, reshaping pricing in public contracts and allowing re‑balancing where tax burdens change.
