Brazil's The Power Music Dance reaches Hip Hop International semifinals in Phoenix
The Power Music Dance, a dance crew from Poços de Caldas in Brazil, has qualified for the semifinals of Hip Hop International (HHI), the world's largest hip‑hop competition. The event takes place in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, from July 25 to August 1, 2026.
The crew advanced after placing third in the preliminary round and will compete in the Minicrew category. The group previously earned a historic silver medal in 2025, Brazil's first podium finish in the competition in more than two decades. Founded over 35 years ago and directed by Régis Reis, The Power Music Dance is part of the Power Dance street‑dance project, which uses dance as a tool for social development.
Local officials praised the team, with the municipality of Poços de Caldas congratulating the dancers and wishing them success in the semifinals. The competition gathers teams from many countries, progressing through preliminaries, semifinals and finals, and is widely regarded as the premier stage for hip‑hop dance.
