Brazil's top election court suspends Flavio Bolsonaro poll

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) ordered the suspension of an AtlasIntel/Bloomberg poll released on 19 May that showed a decline in support for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro. The request came from the Liberal Party (PL) and was granted by Minister Kassio Nunes Marques, the court’s president, who said the survey exhibited methodological flaws and possible “contamination of responses.” The poll had placed Lula at 48.9% and Bolsonaro at 41.8%, a shift from an earlier tied race.

The suspension is provisional and does not constitute a final judgment on the poll’s validity. The Electoral Prosecutor’s Office will also be asked to comment before a definitive decision is reached.
