Brazil's TSE and CFA/CRAs Outline Candidate Selection and Election Timelines

The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) published detailed rules for party and federation conventions that must be held between July 20 and August 5 to officially register candidates for the upcoming elections. Conventions may be conducted in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format, allowing parties to choose candidates, decide on coalitions, and use appropriate technology tools.

The Federal Council of Administration (CFA) and Regional Administration Councils (CRAs) have released the 2026 election calendar. On June 24, representatives of challenged slates are notified, followed by a contestation period from June 25‑29. The judging of registration requests will occur between June 30 and July 9, with possible candidate substitutions scheduled for July 10. Voting is set for October 14, 2026, and will be conducted entirely online.
