TSE President defends electronic voting in meeting with ambassadors

Kassio Nunes Marques, president of Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE), met with approximately 86 to 92 ambassadors and diplomatic representatives in Brasília to defend the security and transparency of the nation's electronic voting system.

During the briefing, Nunes Marques emphasized that Brazil is a global reference in electoral organization. He addressed concerns regarding potential foreign interference and the risks posed by artificial intelligence, specifically the use of deepfakes to manipulate voters. To combat these threats, the TSE has established strict regulations for the 2026 elections, including prohibitions on AI-generated voting suggestions and measures against digital misogyny.

Additionally, major technology platforms have submitted compliance plans to the TSE. These companies have agreed to participate in a dedicated situation room during election cycles to coordinate responses to coordinated disinformation and mass messaging. The meeting included representatives from the United Nations and the European Union, aiming to strengthen international dialogue regarding the integrity of the Brazilian electoral process.
