Brazil's União Progressista Federation finalizes 2026 candidate slate amid leadership boycott over Flávio Bolsonaro

On July 20, 2026 the Federação União Progressista (UP), a coalition of the Progressistas and União Brasil in Paraná, officially approved 55 candidates for the state legislature and 31 candidates for the federal Chamber of Deputies. The proportional lists were set during state conventions held in Curitiba, and the federation will decide its stance on the majoritarian election at an August 5 convention in the same city.

On the same day, the national presidents of the Progressistas, União Brasil and Republicanos chose not to attend the federation’s convention in São Paulo, citing prior commitments.
