Brazil's Volkswagen and Fiat Unveil Historic Car Exhibitions

Volkswagen Brazil and the Museum CARDE announced a temporary exchange of two iconic Beetles. The 1959 convertible used by President Juscelino Kubitschek will be displayed at Volkswagen’s garage in the ABC region, while the 1993 “Fusca Itamar” that greeted President Itamar Franco will move to the museum in Campos do Jordão. The swap, slated for 3 August 2026, commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Beetle’s production end in Brazil and the 30th anniversary of the model’s final run, and is accompanied by a documentary titled “Dois Fuscas, Dois Presidentes.”

Separately, the Casa Fiat de Cultura in Belo Horizonte is hosting the “Celebrar as ruas: 50 anos de Fiat e brasilidade” exhibition until 11 October 2026. Curated by Yuri Quevedo, Peter Fassbender and Marcos Rozen, the show blends more than 250 artworks with historic Fiat models such as the 1976 Fiat 147, the Fiat Palio Weekend, and a Fiat once owned by Ayrton Senna, highlighting the car’s role in Brazil’s cultural and social identity.
