Brazil expands winter clothing drives across São Paulo, Guarulhos, Mato Grosso and Florianópolis

State and municipal governments in Brazil have launched or expanded the 2026 Campanha do Agasalho, a winter clothing collection effort for people in vulnerable situations. The São Paulo state government began the campaign on Sunday, 21 June, opening numerous drop‑off points at Poupatempo offices, metro stations and CPTM stations, and accepting financial contributions via a PIX key. In Guarulhos, the network of collection points grew to more than 200 locations, and the programme now also accepts clothing and blankets for dogs and cats, with items processed by the local Fundo Social de Solidariedade.

In the municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde (Mato Grosso), the campaign under the slogan “Aqueça um Coração” continues to gather coats, blankets, shoes and other winter garments, with the first‑lady and social assistance secretary Janice Ribeiro urging residents to donate unused items. Florianópolis’ ND TV RECORD partnered with Quantum Engenharia to run an “Atelier Solidário” where rescued garments are repaired and redistributed free of charge, aiming to reduce textile waste while providing dignified clothing to those in need.

All initiatives coordinate with local social assistance centers to triage and allocate donations to families according to regional cold‑weather intensity and demand.
