The Agence de régulation des postes et des communications électroniques (ARPCE) has dismantled a SIM box fraud network in the Massengo district of Brazzaville. The operation, conducted on August 21 with law enforcement support, targeted a clandestine site used to reroute international calls as local communications.

Authorities seized two 16-port SIM boxes, a laptop, a modem, and identified thirty fraudulent Ugandan phone numbers used via roaming. The investigation revealed that the site diverted 422,645 minutes of communication, resulting in an estimated loss of 42 million CFA francs over a two-month period.

This intervention marks the sixth such network neutralized by the ARPCE since the beginning of the year. The regulator noted that SIM box fraud deprives telecommunications operators and the state of significant tax revenue and affects overall network quality.
