BRB acquisition controversy involves claims of misleading information
District Deputy Pepa has stated that he would have voted differently regarding the Banco de Brasília (BRB) decision to acquire Banco Master if he had been aware of the bank's true situation at the time.
Speaking about the vote in the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF), Pepa claimed that lawmakers were provided with information suggesting the operation was the best alternative for the financial institution's growth. He noted that no studies were presented to the deputies that revealed the subsequent scenario that became public through the press.
The deputy attributed the decision to the explanations provided by the then-president of BRB, Paulo Henrique Costa, who defended the operation as an expansion opportunity. Pepa also mentioned consulting five BRB managers who supported the move as a way for the bank to achieve national status. He has called for explanations from those responsible for presenting what he describes as an incorrect narrative.
