Breakthrough T1D hosts inaugural Clinical & Research Congress
The inaugural Breakthrough T1D Clinical & Research Congress (CRC) took place in Philadelphia from October 9 to 11, gathering over 1,000 participants from more than 30 countries. The event brought together clinicians, researchers, scientists, industry leaders, and members of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community to discuss advancements in research and clinical trials.
Key areas of focus included early detection and screening, disease-modifying therapies to address root causes, and the restoration of insulin production through cell therapies. The congress also highlighted the role of technology and artificial intelligence in easing the daily burden of the disease.
A central theme of the congress was the integration of lived experience with scientific data. Participants emphasized that progress should be measured not only by laboratory results but also by the ability to reduce the daily disruptions, worries, and decision-making burdens faced by those living with T1D.
