Breast cancer prevention and early detection emphasized across Europe

Health officials and medical experts across several European regions are intensifying calls for breast cancer prevention and early diagnostic screening. In Kosovo, Dr. Branislava Cvetković reported a concerning rise in cases in northern Kosovo, noting twelve new diagnoses in recent months, many of which were identified at advanced stages in women born between 1985 and 1994.

In Slovakia, the Ministry of Health and the Cancer League have highlighted updated screening regulations, which now recommend mammography for asymptomatic women aged 45 to 74 every two years. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a gathering of over 100 women and health professionals, including Minister of Health Enis Hasanović, emphasized the collective social responsibility to support patients and promote timely medical intervention.

In Hungary, advocates from the Breast Cancer Info Association stressed that while certain risk factors cannot be changed, healthy lifestyles and regular self-examinations are vital. They noted that approximately 8,500 to 9,000 women are diagnosed annually in the country, underscoring the necessity of overcoming fear to seek medical help.
