Breast cancer awareness in Slovakia emphasizes prevention and medical progress

In observance of Pink October, medical experts and public figures in Slovakia are highlighting the critical importance of early diagnosis and regular screenings for breast cancer.

Musician and traveler Dorota Nvotová shared her personal experience following a mastectomy, using her platform to encourage women to overcome the fear of examinations. She emphasized that regular check-ups, including mammograms for women aged 45 and older, are essential for early detection.

Oncology specialists, including surgeon MUDr. Marián Taraba and clinical oncologist MUDr. Miroslava Malejčíková, noted advancements in treatment. Current medical trends allow for tumor removal with minimal margins to preserve cosmetic appearance, or immediate reconstruction following a mastectomy. Experts also highlighted increasing treatment options that offer hope even for patients with metastatic tumors, urging women to prioritize their health through proactive screening.
