Pink October: Global mobilization for cancer prevention and screening

Various institutions across Africa, Europe, and South America are conducting widespread activities for Pink October, focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and cervical cancers.

In Africa, the Senate of Chad organized awareness and voluntary screening sessions. In Guinea, the Ministry of Women, Family and Solidarities, in partnership with UNFPA, mobilized over 500 women in Conakry for information and screening. In Burkina Faso, IAMGOLD Essakane SA held conferences for its staff regarding female cancers and prostate cancer. Additionally, a partnership agreement was signed in Brazzaville between Ciespac and ISTM Kinshasa to enhance academic cooperation in public health and oncology.

In Brazil, numerous municipal and private initiatives are underway, including health caravans in João Pessoa, specialized exam expansions at Hospital Dia, and community walks in Várzea Grande and Matias Barbosa. In Angola, the Court of Auditors held lectures on cancer risks for its staff.

In Europe, France has seen diverse campaigns, from Decathlon’s charitable fitness range to Transavia’s educational safety guides. In the Corrèze region, public health officials are promoting colorectal and breast cancer screening kits to encourage early diagnosis.
