Breast cancer awareness initiatives launched in Kuwait and Egypt

Breast cancer awareness initiatives are being highlighted across the region during October. In Kuwait, the Kuwait Cancer Society (KAN) has launched its 15th annual awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Your awareness is your pink seatbelt.’ Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh, Chairman of KAN, noted that breast cancer is a major public health issue, ranking as the most common cancer diagnosed among women in Kuwait. According to 2022 statistics, 459 new cases were recorded, accounting for 40.4% of all new female cancer diagnoses in the country.

In Egypt, Assiut National University participated in global breast cancer awareness efforts by illuminating its buildings in pink. Dr. Mohamed Sayed Ibrahim, President of the university, stated that the symbolic gesture aims to support women fighting the disease and to emphasize the critical importance of early detection and community health education.
