Breda resident defrauded by fake police officer
A resident in Breda, Netherlands, was targeted in a sophisticated scam involving a fraudulent phone call and a physical visit from a fake police officer. On March 31, 2026, a woman calling herself a police officer contacted the victim, claiming that while four burglars had been apprehended nearby, two others remained at large. She advised the resident to check their front door for signs of entry.
To provide further assistance, the caller stated a colleague would visit the home, identifying him by the name ‘Wesley Bonker’. A young man later arrived at the residence, introducing himself with that exact name. While the woman remained on the phone to keep the victim occupied, the individual gained entry and convinced the resident to reveal the contents of a safe and hand over bank cards and PIN codes.
The suspect, described as a male with black hair wearing a black Jordan/Nike puffer jacket, fled the scene under the pretext of retrieving a security bracelet. The victim subsequently discovered that money and bank cards had been stolen. The bank has since blocked the cards following suspicious transactions. Police have released footage from a doorbell camera to help identify the suspect, who may be a minor.
