Brede Hangeland book reveals Norwegian national team drama

New details regarding internal tension within the Norwegian national football team have emerged from an upcoming book by assistant coach Brede Hangeland, titled ‘Feltnotater fra fotball-VM - 47 dager på innsiden’.

The book describes a confrontation involving head coach Ståle Solbakken, who was reportedly ‘furious’ after discovering that plans for a royal palace visit following the World Cup had been arranged without his or Hangeland’s knowledge. The dispute centered on whether star players Erling Braut Haaland, Martin Ødegaard, and Sander Berge would participate in the official homecoming ceremonies.

According to the manuscript, Solbakken held a meeting with the captaincy group to mandate that the team return to Oslo together before starting their vacations. While the entire squad eventually attended the palace visit, Haaland and Berge departed for holidays before the rest of the team and staff were celebrated by crowds at Slottsplassen.
