Breeana Robinson inquest delayed to seek domestic violence expert
An inquest into the 2013 death of Gold Coast Titans cheerleader Breeana Robinson has been delayed until at least the second half of 2027. The 21-year-old fell to her death from an 11th-storey balcony in Southport on January 29, 2013.
Queensland Deputy State Coroner Donald MacKenzie indicated the delay is necessary to secure funding for specialized expert witnesses. The court is seeking a psychiatrist or expert in human behavior specializing in domestic violence to examine 69 statements from former partners of Jayden Daniel Moorea, the man who was last seen with Robinson in the apartment.
Additional delays are attributed to the court awaiting a full transcript from a previous criminal matter and an outstanding review of DNA evidence following a commission of inquiry into forensic testing in Queensland. Robinson’s family has challenged Moorea’s account of her final moments, while Moorea denies any involvement in her death.
