Breeders’ Cup Classic eyes showdown between Forever Young and Sovereignty

The 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships are scheduled for October 30-31 at Keeneland Race Course. The marquee event, the $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic, features a highly anticipated potential matchup between Japan-based star Forever Young and the 2025 Horse of the Year, Sovereignty.

Sovereignty, owned by Godolphin, recently missed the Jockey Club Gold Cup due to a hoof abscess, but is expected to target the Classic on October 31. Forever Young, the defending winner, aims to become only the third horse to win back-to-back editions of the race. Other notable contenders in the field include Knightsbridge, Magnitude, and Further Ado.

As the event approaches, bettors are monitoring key factors such as recent form, post positions, and race-day conditions. The official pre-entry deadline is October 19, with post times and race orders scheduled for announcement on October 21.
