Breedr raises $27 million to expand livestock management platform
Breedr, a livestock management and beef supply chain technology firm, has raised $27 million in a Series B funding round. The investment was led by Partech through its impact arm, with participation from LocalGlobe via its Latitude growth fund and the Outsiders Fund.
The company aims to expand its digital platform across the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. Breedr provides a digital system of record for cattle, allowing producers to track weight, health, and breeding from birth to the supermarket shelf. By replacing analog paper records and traditional auction methods with a digital marketplace and predictive modeling, the platform helps ranchers monitor animal growth more precisely.
According to founder and CEO Ian Wheal, the technology can help producers reach market weight up to five months sooner, which can improve margins and reduce average methane emissions. The funding comes at a time when cattle herd sizes in the US have reached 75-year lows due to high production costs and environmental pressures.
