Breel Embolo joins Atlanta United from Stade Rennais
Swiss striker Breel Embolo has officially signed with Atlanta United, joining from French club Stade Rennais. The deal, which reportedly cost approximately $18 million (or 15 million euros), secures the 29-year-old forward through the 2029-30 or June 2030 season.
Embolo, a 92-time Swiss international, arrives in Major League Soccer following a strong performance at the World Cup, where he recorded two goals and two assists in six matches. His move follows a period of negotiation that included reported interest from English Premier League side Ipswich Town.
Atlanta United’s chief soccer officer and sporting director, Chris Henderson, praised the signing, noting Embolo’s combination of talent and high-level experience. The striker is expected to bolster Atlanta’s attack alongside players such as Miguel Almiron and Alexey Miranchuk.
