Fernpassstraße accident kills German driver in Tyrol

A series of significant traffic incidents occurred in the Alpine regions of Austria and Germany. On the Fernpassstraße (B179) in Tyrol, a fatal collision involving a German driver from Karlsruhe resulted in his death. The 77-year-old man lost control in a curve, collided head-on with a truck, and his vehicle plunged 15 to 20 meters into a gorge. His 76-year-old wife sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a clinic in Murnau, Germany.

In Bregenz, Austria, the Citytunnel was closed for nearly five hours following a collision between a passenger car and a truck. The accident caused approximately 750 liters of diesel to leak, requiring extensive cleanup with 3,000 kg of binding agent. Both drivers involved in the tunnel incident were reported uninjured.

Additionally, a separate accident in Lustenau, Vorarlberg, left three people injured after a collision between two cars. Authorities are continuing to investigate the causes of these various road accidents.
