Brežice Mayor welcomes European U18 basketball champions

Ivan Molan, the Mayor of Brežice, officially received Domen Zevnik and Jazon Krošelj following their historic achievement at the European U18 basketball championship in Trento, Italy. The Slovenian U18 national team secured the gold medal by defeating host nation Italy with a score of 88:71, marking the first time Slovenia has won a gold medal in this age category.

Both Zevnik, the team's coach, and Krošelj, a player, are locals from the Brežice region. Krošelj began his basketball career at the local Brežice Basketball Club. During the reception, Mayor Molan emphasized the municipality's commitment to sports development, noting that over 700,000 euros were allocated to the sports sector in 2026 to support infrastructure and youth programs.
