Breitling launches limited‑edition Top Time B01 watch honoring Eddy Merckx’s 525 victories
Swiss watchmaker Breitling has released the Top Time B01 Eddy Merckx, a limited edition chronograph of 525 pieces that pays tribute to Belgian cyclist Eddy Merckx, the record holder with 525 professional wins, five Tour de France titles and numerous classic victories. The watch features a bright yellow dial inspired by the Tour’s maillot jaune, “One of 525” engravings on the case back, a visible B01 automatic chronograph movement behind sapphire glass, and additional design cues from the brand’s historic Top Time collection.
The launch continues Breitling’s long‑standing connection to cycling, dating back to the late 19th century when the company produced stopwatches for races and supplied timing equipment in the 1930s. Recent special editions have honored other cycling legends such as Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali. Breitling CEO Jean‑Marc Pontroué and Georges Kern, CEO of the House of Brands, highlighted Merckx’s unparalleled record and the watch’s embodiment of his ambition and speed.
