Charles Leclerc blames Ferrari brakes at Monaco GP, Brembo issues response

Charles Leclerc said his Ferrari’s braking system was unreliable during the Monaco Grand Prix, claiming that three of the four brakes stopped working after the safety‑car period and that the failure forced him to crash at the Anthony Noghès corner. He described the problem as “almost dangerous” and said it made him look “like an idiot”, noting similar brake concerns in the previous Canadian Grand Prix.

Brembo, the long‑time supplier of Ferrari’s brake components, responded with a statement saying it was “very surprised” by Leclerc’s comments. The company highlighted a partnership of more than 50 years with Scuderia Ferrari, encompassing AP Racing clutches and Öhlins dampers, and stressed that it does not yet know the cause of the issue. Brembo said definitive technical conclusions are premature until telemetry data are analysed together with Ferrari’s engineers, and reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, reliability and continued collaboration across the Formula 1 grid.
