Bremen cancels Weserstadion concerts for Unity Day, streams Musikfest 2026
The city of Bremen has decided not to use the Weserstadion for concerts during the upcoming Unity Day celebrations on the first weekend of October. Senate spokesperson Christian Dohle explained that uncertainties over the renovation of a stadium stand and logistical challenges left “maybe” insufficient, prompting planners to relocate the stage to a parking area along the Osterdeich.
Separately, Bremen’s annual Musikfest 2026 will open on 15 August with a live broadcast on Radio Bremen’s Bremen Zwei channel. The program features performances by the hr‑Sinfonieorchester under conductor Alain Altinoglu, a premiere of Fazil Say’s piano concerto “Mother Earth,” and a range of classical, baroque, jazz and electro‑acoustic works, all streamed to a wide audience.
