Bremen Central Station ranked worst in Europe
According to the European Railway Station Index released by the Consumer Choice Center (CCC), Bremen Central Station has been ranked as the worst railway station in Europe. The study evaluated 60 stations based on reliability, cleanliness, facilities, and connectivity.
In Bremen, 63 percent of trains arrive late, with an average waiting time of 21 minutes. The station also suffers from limited commercial offerings, poor connections, and a neglected station forecourt that reportedly emits strong odors. While the station maintains a sufficient number of ticket machines and counters, this was not enough to improve its overall score.
Germany performed poorly in the ranking overall, with 15 of the 19 evaluated German stations placing in the bottom 30. Other notable issues include Dortmund having the highest delay rate at 73.8 percent, Hamburg recording the longest average wait time at 24.8 minutes, and Berlin Central Station seeing average waits of 20 minutes. The report attributes much of Germany's poor standing to deteriorating infrastructure and frequent delays within Deutsche Bahn.
