Bremen CSD parade to proceed on full route amid rising hate crime reports

The Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade in Bremen is set to proceed along its full planned route through the city center this Saturday. Despite initial concerns from organizers that police resource shortages might force a shortened route, authorities have confirmed that security planning is complete and the full distance will be secured.

This event comes amid rising reports of hostility toward the LGBTQ+ community. In Bremen, politically motivated crimes against individuals based on sexual orientation or gender identity rose significantly to 60 recorded cases in 2025, compared to 26 in the previous year. Interior Senator Eva Högl noted that queerphobia is becoming more visible and aggressive through organized actions.

Under the motto ‘Generationen voller Pride – glücklich, sichtbar, stark’, tens of thousands of participants are expected to march to advocate for equal rights and self-determination.
