Bremen police intercept 18-year-old after bus theft

An 18-year-old man stole a regional bus in Bremen, Germany, on a Sunday afternoon by posing as a relief driver. The incident occurred at the main station, where the individual convinced the previous driver he was taking over the shift.

After departing, the individual drove the vehicle along an unauthorized route through western Bremen with passengers on board. The bus company utilized GPS tracking to locate the vehicle, which was eventually intercepted by police on Oslebshauser Heerstraße. No passengers were injured during the incident.

The suspect is a repeat offender; police reports indicate he previously hijacked a bus at age 15 by posing as an intern. He has since faced various attempts to operate public transport vehicles. The individual was taken into custody and subsequently released into the care of his aunt. Authorities have filed criminal charges for unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license.
