Bremen Senate approves state action plan against racism

The Bremen Senate has approved its first cross-departmental state action plan to combat racism. The plan consists of 43 new measures distributed across eleven fields of action, including education, housing, public transport, and the public service sector.

Key initiatives within the plan include the introduction of a state anti-discrimination law, a service agreement to prevent discrimination in the public sector, and a protection concept for schools. The school-based concept aims to implement structured complaint management and appoint specific anti-discrimination contact persons.

Developed over several years with input from civil society, academia, and individuals with personal experiences of racism, the plan is intended to be implemented by all Senate departments within three years. An interim progress report is scheduled for early 2028.
