Bremen: Ship collision and illegal drone flight during Maritime Week

During Maritime Week in Bremen, a ship collision occurred on the Weser river during a scheduled light procession. The accident took place near Marina Bremen between a passenger ship and a motorboat. Although the motorboat driver attempted to avoid the collision, the stern of the boat struck the bow of the passenger vessel, resulting in property damage. No injuries were reported, and investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.

Separately, police seized a drone that was being operated illegally over the Weser and the festival grounds. The pilot, identified as a hobby photographer, was flying a multicopter at an altitude of 28 meters within a restricted flight zone. Authorities have filed charges and confiscated the device. Police reminded the public that drone operations are subject to strict regulations regarding altitude and location, requiring specific permits from aviation authorities.
