Bremerhaven and Bremen ports report increased cargo throughput

The ports of Bremen and Bremerhaven reported significant growth in maritime cargo throughput during the first half of 2026. Total sea goods handled reached 34.5 million tonnes, representing a 5.9% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Container throughput saw a 5.7% rise, totaling approximately 2.6 million TEU. Additionally, vehicle handling increased by 2.4% to roughly 614,000 units, reversing a decline seen in the previous year. This growth contrasts with the Port of Hamburg, which reported a decrease in throughput for the same period.
