Bremerhaven launches local shopping and gastronomy initiative
The marketing initiative Bremerhavener Quartiere (MBQ) is launching the ‘Bremerhaven lokal erleben’ campaign from September 4 to 13. The initiative aims to highlight the diversity of local trade and gastronomy across seven city districts.
Nearly 60 businesses, including retail shops and restaurants, are participating in the event. The campaign kicks off with a traditional wine festival at Theodor-Heuss-Platz from September 4 to 6, which includes an open shopping Sunday in the city center. The event concludes on September 13 during the Energy and Climate City Day, featuring open shopping Sundays in Bohmsiel and the fishing harbor.
MBQ Chairman Stephan Schulze-Aissen stated that the goal is to demonstrate the variety of local offerings and encourage residents to shop locally. Retailers involved, such as Tim Grundmann of Seaside Sneaker, emphasized that brick-and-mortar stores offer unique advantages over online shopping, including personal consultation, immediate product comparison, and a family-like atmosphere.
