Bremerhaven police halt unsafe furniture transport

Police in the Lehe district of Bremerhaven intervened during a chaotic moving operation on Tuesday evening. Officers patrolling Rickmersstraße encountered a 34-year-old driver using a Mercedes station wagon to transport furniture in an unsafe manner.

The vehicle was loaded with unsecured items, including kitchen cabinets in the trunk and a countertop with a sink protruding more than one meter from the open tailgate. Additionally, a table was improperly fastened to the roof using only “Flatterband” (flutter tape).

As a result, the driver was prohibited from continuing the journey and faced an administrative fine of 80 euros and one point on his driving record. The situation escalated when an acquaintance arrived with a trailer to continue the move; however, the trailer was found to have significant defects that rendered it unfit for public roads. Police seized the trailer's license plate to prevent further use.
