Hugo Eric Flores to leave Morena deputy post to lead PAZ party

Morena deputy Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes has announced he will request an indefinite leave of absence from his federal position, effective August 31. Flores intends to lead the newly approved PAZ political party.

His departure leaves the Sección Instructora of the Chamber of Deputies without a president. This legislative body is currently reviewing a request for the removal of legal immunity (desafuero) against PRI national leader Alejandro Moreno, who faces allegations of embezzlement and abuse of authority during his tenure as governor of Campeche.

Flores denied allegations that he obstructed the legal proceedings against Moreno, asserting that his work was strictly technical. The Morena parliamentary group is expected to decide on a successor for the presidency of the Sección Instructora during its plenary meeting on August 30.
