Brenda Rae replaces Lauren Snouffer for Opera Philadelphia opening

Soprano Brenda Rae stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Lauren Snouffer for Opera Philadelphia’s opening night performance of Mozart’s ‘Mitridate, re di Ponto’. Rae accepted the offer while traveling from Minneapolis to Wisconsin, joining tenor Lawrence Brownlee and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo at the Academy of Music.

The decision to replace Snouffer was described by Costanzo, the company’s general director, as a ‘collaborative decision-making process’ intended to ensure the best outcome for all parties involved. Rae, who was scheduled for a break between upcoming engagements at Festival Napa Valley and Seattle Opera, performed the role of Aspasia.
