Former professional dancer Brendan Cole has expressed criticism regarding the 2026 lineup for Strictly Come Dancing, suggesting the cast lacks recognizable names and the excitement of previous years. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Cole described himself as a “bitter old pro” while noting that the show no longer feels as impactful as it once did.

In a separate discussion regarding the program’s presentation, Cole also commented on comedian Josh Widdicombe’s debut as a co-host alongside Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe. Cole remarked that Widdicombe appeared like a “lamb to the slaughter,” noting that his comedic style can feel out of place next to the highly professional presenting styles of Willis and Radebe. Despite these observations, Cole encouraged viewers to give Widdicombe a chance as the series progresses.
