Australian fast bowler Brendan Doggett is using the Australia A tour of India to rebuild his fitness and secure a spot in the national squad for the 2026-27 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Doggett, 31, is returning to competitive cricket following a major hamstring injury sustained in February 2026. He is currently preparing for two four-day matches against India A in Puducherry, which will serve as a critical pathway back to Test cricket.

As part of his preparation, Doggett has been undergoing heat adaptation work to adjust to the intense Indian conditions, which differ significantly from the Australian winter. He reported that his body is feeling “good and in check” after being at full fitness for approximately two months.
