Brendan Gallagher named honorary citizen of Montreal as Canadiens plan his exit

Long‑time Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher was named an honorary citizen of the city by Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada. The honor recognizes his on‑ice contributions and extensive community involvement in Montreal.

Gallagher, who has one year left on a six‑year, US$39 million contract, is being considered for a trade to the Vancouver Canucks or a contract buyout as his tenure with the Canadiens draws to a close. He grew up in British Columbia, played for the WHL’s Vancouver Giants, and has spent his entire 14‑season NHL career with Montreal.
