Brendan Shanahan joins Kilmer Sports Ventures as PWHL advisor
Brendan Shanahan, a Hockey Hall of Famer and former president of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has been named a strategic advisor for the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) at Kilmer Sports Ventures.
Kilmer Sports Ventures, owned by Larry Tanenbaum, became a strategic capital partner in the PWHL in June. This move marks Kilmer as the first and only Canadian investor in the league since its 2023 establishment. The PWHL has expanded from its original six teams to eight last season, with four additional teams joining for the 2026-27 campaign.
Shanahan expressed enthusiasm for reuniting with Tanenbaum and working alongside PWHL executive vice president Jayna Hefford to support the growth of women’s hockey.
