Brendan Sorsby prepares for 2027 NFL Draft during hiatus

Former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby is reportedly preparing to emerge as a top prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft despite being unable to play during the 2026 college football season. Sorsby’s hiatus follows an NCAA violation involving nearly $100,000 spent on online gambling, which led to the termination of his partnership with Texas Tech following significant public backlash.

While the NFL has blocked him from the supplemental draft, Sorsby remains eligible for pre-draft activities such as the Senior Bowl and pro days. To maintain his development, he is working with former NFL quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello. Scangarello is utilizing offensive terminology and playbooks from his time with the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons to prepare Sorsby for professional defenses.

Sorsby’s training regimen includes weekly sessions focused on specific defensive looks, third-down situations, protections, and red zone drills. This intensive preparation aims to offset the fact that he has not recorded a game rep since November 2025.
