Brendan Taylor becomes Zimbabwe’s leading ODI run-scorer
Brendan Taylor has become Zimbabwe’s all-time leading run-scorer in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), surpassing the long-standing record held by Andy Flower. The 40-year-old batter achieved the milestone during a tri-series match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.
Taylor scored 81 runs off 101 deliveries, including 10 fours, to help Zimbabwe recover from an early collapse of 24/3 to reach a total of 271/8 in their 50 overs. With this performance, Taylor has amassed 6,837 runs in 211 ODIs, overtaking Flower’s previous tally of 6,786 runs.
Taylor, who returned to international cricket last year after a period of retirement, has played 211 ODIs with 11 centuries and 40 half-centuries. The tri-series in the UAE also features Afghanistan as the third competing nation.
