Brendan Taylor breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI career record

Zimbabwean wicketkeeper-batsman Brendan Taylor has set a new world record for the longest One Day International (ODI) career. During the opening match of a home series against Australia in Harare, Taylor surpassed the previous record held by Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

According to data from Wisden, Taylor’s ODI career has spanned 22 years and 148 days, breaking Tendulkar’s mark of 22 years and 91 days. The 40-year-old Taylor has played 208 ODIs, scoring 6,708 runs with 11 centuries. In comparison, Tendulkar played 463 ODIs, amassing 18,426 runs and 49 centuries before retiring in 2013.

The current three-match ODI series between Zimbabwe and Australia is underway, with Zimbabwe trailing 1-0.
