Brendson Ribeiro defeats Felipe Franco via submission at UFC Vegas 122
Brendson Ribeiro snapped a four-fight losing streak at UFC Vegas 122 by defeating fellow Brazilian Felipe Franco via a first-round guillotine choke submission. The victory took place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
Ribeiro’s performance followed a difficult weigh-in where he missed the light heavyweight limit by approximately 1.1 kg, resulting in a 20% purse reduction to his opponent. During the bout, Franco attempted a takedown that Ribeiro countered by locking in the choke, forcing the submission at 1:49 of the first round.
Following the loss, Felipe Franco indicated that his move to the light heavyweight division is intended to be permanent, noting that the heavyweight division was not the right fit for him due to the size and weight of his opponents.
