Brennsee aeration system undergoes major maintenance

The 4.3-ton TIBEAN deep-water aeration system has been raised to the surface of Brennsee (also known as Feldsee) for extensive maintenance. The 22.5-meter-long installation has been in operation since 1992 to stabilize water quality by transporting oxygen-poor water from deep layers to the surface for enrichment before returning it to the depths.

This maintenance, the first of its scale since 2011, involves cleaning filters, replacing filling hoses, and conducting technical inspections. Once completed, the system will be lowered back into the lake to continue its role in preventing oxygen depletion, particularly during warmer seasons. Marika Lagger-Pöllinger, the environmental and water official, noted that such water protection efforts often occur out of public sight but are essential for securing long-term water quality.
