Brent oil price surge reaches Estonian fuel stations
Brent crude oil futures rose above $100 per barrel, closing at $100.69 on Thursday, a level not seen since May. The increase has begun to filter through to retail fuel prices in Estonia. Alexela board member Tarmo Kärsna warned that the government had not taken steps to soften the impact, noting that short‑term price swings of a few days would not be reflected at the pump, but a higher price persisting for two weeks would become noticeable for drivers.
The rise follows a 7 % gain in Brent futures and is tied to heightened geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran and broader supply concerns in the Middle East, which have pushed global oil prices upward.
